Deerhunter’s much anticipated new album, Halcyon Digest will be released on the 28th September on 4AD. We’ve previously had the video for Helicopter on this blog and just listening to that opened my eyes to the possibilities that lay within this album. Fortunately it seems to live up to those expectations, sounding much as you’d expect; halcyon dreams of golden memories, burning suns and flaming romances.

deerhunter – helicopter

Deerhunter have recently posted a video for Helicopter, one of the most remarkable efforts from their new album Halcyon Digest. Helicopter glides dexterously through the sky as the name suggests, building on recent chillwave dynamics and sat on a rhythmical template shared by the likes of Toro Y Moi or Washed Out. There’s something bigger going on here too, it’s incredibly well thought out, sounding monolithic yet somehow reachable, distant yet close.
