Below is the video for Memoryhouse’s Heirloom, directed by wunderkind Jamie Harley who has managed a perfect marriage between the two different contents. One, a modern pop/psychedelic track filtered through the glass of recent decades in music, the second, early colour footage and a realtime look at the 1960s, cut-up and re-imagined in light of the recent advances in video programming. The effect is one of of outstanding beauty of an almost mesmeric quality. Of course we’d expect nothing less from the man who did the double with the two Fiveng videos, who brought us Lonely Galaxy’s Time, and of course the superbly crafted video for How to Dress Well’s Lover’s Start.
Only days after releasing second single Easy San Francisco’s Fiveng has provided us with not one but two videos for the track. The two videos titled The Longest and The Strongest were created by the unstoppable force of Jamie Harley.
Fiveng – Easy is out now via Beachtapes. Download here.
Last month we saw the release of the Fiveng’s first single Give Me a Taste/Jonah, now within a month of that we have his second instalment, the lucid yet intangible Easy. Released on the infamous Beachtapes label/blog Easy is further proof of Nicholas Ng’s burgeoning talents. Coming across like a futuristic Animal Collective Fiveng’s voice manages to pierce the thick clouds of sound that wash over the record and provide it with a solid melodic underpinning. The production here remains consistently high with a whole swathe of instrumentation that brings clarity and definition to the dream-like sound-scape, filling the infinite plain with a wash of intense colour. Highly recommended.

Below is the video to Fiveng’s Skin which appeared some 16 days ago on Vimeo. However being only three days away until the official release date of his double A-side Give Me a Taste/Jonah it’s a perfect time to post this track. The video is a trip in bleached film grain – re-animated corpses of by-gone years resurrected and made living making the now appear as cool as it ever was. Psychedelic lights flash in and out with the music promoting restful peace in the eyes of the viewer.
Fiveng’s Give Me a Taste/Jonah appears on Beachtapes, 23rd August. To download the single for free head over here on Monday.
Beachtapes has released it’s first mixtape tapeOne featuring a brilliant mix of 30 tracks created from the best posts since the blog had been running. Head on over to Beachtapes to get yourself a copy.
