james blake – i never learnt to share

Man, I feel like I’ve been ignorant my whole life. I’ve only just stumbled upon this masterpiece (through Fader), still yet to be released, that had been passed around sometime after CMYK but before the release of Klavierwerke. With all the melancholy of a lonely man, James Blake tears at the heart strings, bringing with it his own breathy brevity. Short on words (the single phrase repeats and repeats) it may be but passionate it is nonetheless, and when it crescendos so finely, with sparse water drops of sound, it feels like the whole world is brought from the blackstuff.
